Yes! Hotels are delighted to announce their exciting new hotel project in an exclusive partnership with award-winning Brazilian designers the Campana Brothers, New Hotel. Due to open in the heart of Athens by summer 2011, New Hotel is a renovation of the former Olympic Palace Hotel in Plaka. This is the latest luxury hotel venture from Yes! Hotels who are renowned for their contemporary designs and exclusive art collections.

The brothers, known for their adventurous designs, have worked within three clearly identified themes which stay true to the Athenian culture. These themes are individually celebrated within three different room types throughout the hotel. The first room type pays homage to the fictional characters from Greek folklore called Karagiozis. The second room type embraces the ‘evil eye’, a superstitious bead that guards against bad omens and the third displays historic post cards giving visitors an insight into old Athens. The brothers carefully blend the old with the new, creating contrast between the use of historical Athenian elements and contemporary touches throughout the hotel. Sleek jagged mirrors and bespoke modern furniture borne from the use of recycled materials made with the help of local art students feature throughout the hotel.

The Campana Brothers have also collaborated with a workshop of Greek postgraduate architecture students from the Department of Architecture at the University of Thessaly who have had a vital contribution to the overall effect of the hotel. Under the initiative of owner and renowned collector Dakis Ioannou along with Fernando and Humberto Campana, the workshop group has created furniture, samples and prototypes whilst exploring methods and techniques associated with the Campana style: reusing and reinterpreting local material and culture. The workshop aimed to inject new ideas and designs in the project but also to utilize the Campana Brother’s proposals for the hotel.

The hotel stands in a prominent central city location nearby Syntagma Square (Constitution Square) and will open as a member of the Design Hotels group with 79 rooms and suites which will all boast up-to-date technology and exclusive pieces of artwork.
