The project for the redesign of the interior of a detached family home in a northern suburb of Athens, was recently undertaken by the design practice of Studio Omerta. Being a family home, it was essential to address the importance of comfort and functionality in all aspects of the project. The main changes in the home were centred in the living room, dining room and the external stairs.

The living room was painted a warm soft shade of grey and a black metal fireplace, designed by Studio Omerta was installed. A comfortable seating unit, the Cestone Sofa by Flexform and a black rug completed the desired effect of contemporary classic, completed by the spectacular light fitting by Bertjan Pot for Moooi and selective artwork placed on the walls. In order to create a more intimate space in the formal dining area, a sculptural metal screen was designed by Studio Omerta. The family dining room in the kitchen is illuminated by the sky lighting by Marcel Wanders for Flos and the adjoining kitchen is lit by concealed lighting, the stainless steel surfaces softened by the wooden units.

The office space exhibits an eclectic mix in the contemporary irregularity of the bookshelves, designed by Omerta, set against the classic sofa and chandelier. The smart desk by Franco Albini for Cassina and the colourful artwork complete a space to be enjoyed by all members of the family. The result is a well thought out interior design which exudes comfort and functionality without compromising the high design aesthetics for which the design practice is known.
