Recently opened in the Prince’s Canal area of Amsterdam is the Andaz Hotel, the 9th of the design focused properties of the Hyatt group. Designed by Netherlands born architect, Marcel Wanders, it is located in an impressive structure which once housed the public library.

Multiple aspects of the art and culture of the Netherlands have been incorporated into the design of this luxury boutique hotel through the unique vision of the architect. Every one of the 122 rooms is decorated in a unique style which encompasses the contemporary with the traditional, each one boasting custom made furniture, hand painted wash basins, specially designed desks and walk in wardrobes. Every surface represents the history and culture of the area, a neighbourhood rich in art and fashion.

Video art is a feature of the hotel with one of the largest collections in the world on hand and customised work from the likes of Ryan Gander, Erwin Olaf and Mark Titchner is displayed throughout the spaces on countless screens and monitors. Public spaces in Delft blue and a restaurant serving local cuisine in addition to convention facilities and a fitness centre and spa are just a few of the facilities and services of the hotel.

Marcel Wanders’ desire is that within the walls of this very special hotel, the guests will experience the luxury of being able ‘to bathe in the universe of Amsterdam, to soak up all its beauty and charm’ - and this is certainly the place to do exactly that.
