You always know it’s that time of the year when the man of the house suddenly develops a yen for browsing through your fashion mags with avid enthusiasm! Of course, he may just be looking for ideas for gifts to pop into your Christmas stocking; on the other hand, he may have heard that Victoria’s Secret 2013 collection has reached the pages of the glossies! That’s right, one of the most eagerly awaited runway shows has once again hit the headlines with a range of high end lingerie fashion, presented in the spectacular way that only Victoria’s Secret knows how!

The 2013 show certainly lived up to its reputation when just a few days ago on a chilly New York day, the temperatures of the star studded audience hit sky high as the bevy of beauties who played the roles of this year’s Angels, strutted their stuff down the catwalk to the music of Fall Out Boy + A Great Big World and the songstress Taylor Swift.

Deemed to be ‘the sexiest show on earth’, this year’s event was right out there with a diverse variety of themes, Shipwrecked, Pink Network, Parisian Nights, Snow Angels, Birds of Paradise and British Invasion which kicked off the event. The old Pearly King would have been delighted with the Pearly Queen angel, her barely there attire giving a whole new meaning to an old East End tradition! Taylor Swift joined in the fun with her extravagant Union Jack outfit alongside a Punks, City Gents, and a Tartan clad, feather bedecked vision!

The lingerie, catsuits, corsets and capes in black, white, pink, pastels and garish rainbow shades were adorned with feathers, crystals and accessorized with all manner of wings, tiny cherubic, floor sweeping and the black crumpled variety of a naughty ‘fallen angel’! This year’s Fantasy Bra was modeled by Candice Swanepoel, a $10 million creation dubbed ‘The Royal’ due to its regal status, a mass of multicolored precious stones which would not be out of place as part of the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London! The show continued, with lingerie from the ultra-sensuous black clad Dominatrix to the cutie pie set, adorned in balloons and pre-pubescent motifs of smiley faces and rainbow stickers! Stunning bridal undies paraded as glorious flower arrangements and snowflakes contrasting with explosive Birds of Paradise, proudly preening their pretty plumes!

The audience were reminded of the rapidly approaching holiday season through the fake snow which drifted down on the catwalk, as the brand are aware of the shopping frenzy which takes place in the Western world at this time of the year in the run up to the festivities, and want to ensure that they maintain their piece of the pie! So perhaps this is the time to start dropping hints, and who knows what you will find in your Christmas stocking this year!
