From a workshop in the lively, and somewhat alternative area of Kreuzberg in the heart of Berlin, discarded wine and soft drinks bottles are being reinvented as beautiful glasses, carafes, lamps and more. The work of Western Trash is inspired by the free thinking attitude of the area and the diverse groups of people who frequent it.

The bottles are locally sourced from restaurants and after sorting into approx groups of colour and shape, they are cleaned and hand crafted to take their final form. Once they have reached the high level standard set by the designers, the Western Trash logo, a star like shape representing a broken window after a riot in the area, is sandblasted on the finished product.

There are so many reasons why this project and subsequent product is unique but what stands out is the fact that a discarded object can become a desirable product at the hands of a socially aware designer and at the same time, bring awareness of this possibility to the public at large.
