The Standard Sofa, designed by Francesco Binfare for Edra was presented at the 2013 Salone del Mobile in Milan. The dramatic form of the comfortable seating arrangement is the culmination of a 20 year project of typological and technological research which began after the introduction of the firm’s first flexible sofa, L’Homme et la Femme in 2003, and shortly after Francesco Binfare began to design for Edra.

The Standard is intended literally to become the high standard by which all sofas are to be judged. Representing the ultimate in flexibility and adaptability with countless configurations to provide seating arrangements for one or more people, it combines a dynamic design aesthetic with functionality suitable for most spaces.

Its impressively bold geometric shape may be covered in a variety of materials, some of which are part of a collection of chenille and jacquard plus a brand new fabric called Nuvola or Cloud which has been produced in three different colours. The sofa is conveniently exhibited beside the fabric options so that visitors can try out each one and decide for themselves how the piece would look as an addition to their own personal space.
