Just the name of Swarovski conjures up images of brilliant sparkling crystals in exquisite configurations and the “Wings of Sparkle” stand for the brand at the Baselworld 2013 event, designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, interprets this glittering quality within its facade.

The curving 7 metre high exterior walls of the stand feature an installation of thousands of hexagonal reflectors, into which are inserted tiny LED lights. Programmed to flicker, the lights and reflectors exaggerate the vibrant energy and sparkle of the Swarovski crystal.

The interior walls of the vast Swarovski stand are lined with 34.000 crystals in the same geometric shape as the facade, and were produced by Swarovski, Wattens, Austria. Also designed by Tokujin Yoshioka are the 40 independent display units which exhibit the products of the brand and follow the hexagonal concept to repeat the dominant crystal motif.

When creating “Wings of Sparkle”, the intention of the designer was to enable visitors ‘to enter the world of Swarovski by being veiled with light of luminance and immersed in a bath of light’ and one can only imagine that his intention was fulfilled!
