The "Best of " – Highlights in Fashion and Couture  is a temporary exhibition running through to 29th December 2011, which can be enjoyed at the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum, Athens.  The exhibition is a visual dialogue and comments on the influences of socio-historic periods throughout history, on the selected pieces from the Lalaounis Jewelry Museum and the Couture exhibits from the Folklore Foundation of B. Papantoniou, Nafplion.

Examples from the 19th century to present day designs in jewelry are directly linked to earlier historical eras.  The visitor will have the opportunity to observe the lines of the garments of ancient Greece in the innovative gown of Delphos, a creation of Mariano Fortuny (1910.) The fascination of the Victorian period with the Greco-Roman culture can be seen with the cameo made popular by Queen Victoria herself.

Diverse cultures from the East and West are joined and geographical boundaries are broken down within the world of Jewelry and Couture. The fascination with the exotic of the Byzantine era is clearly seen in both the couture and jewelry exhibits and the joining together of these two important private museums will allow us to see the best of both institutions in one venue.
