This collection of images by Hufton + Crow depict the Sheikh Zayed Bridge designed by the practice of Zaha Hadid Architects. The team of London-based photographers are world renown for their inspirational photographs of contemporary interior and exterior architecture.

The 842 meters long Sheikh Zayed Bridge is an important piece of infrastructure which links the mainland of the United Arab Emirates with the island of Abu Dhabi. A striking structure, its undulating curves mirror the desert sand dunes and is said to be one of the most intricate bridges ever constructed. The lighting system creates a dialogue with the dynamic city vibe and makes the bridge a desirable destination in its own right.

The collection of photographs depicts the bridge at all times of the day from early morning to late at night. The images do not only concentrate on its exquisite sculptural form, which make it appear to be a piece of art when isolated from the whole picture, but show it against the cityscape in a real life situation. The images of local fishermen add the human element as they stand on the muddy shores of the Maqta Channel, casting their lines and throwing their nets, perhaps oblivious to the magnificent backdrop against which they appear.
