This small wooden chapel introduces a place for silence and peace in the lively commercial centre of Helsinki. The chapel space is located in a sculptural wooden volume. The interior is warm and enclosed from the surrounding urban life. Indirect top light enlightens the wooden chapel interior. The chapel provides services by both Helsinki Parish Union and the city of Helsinki.

K2S Architects have created something truly pure and tranquil, and even though this structure is influenced by religion, i don't think you need to be religious to appreciate it. On the contrary this is a project that can be interpreted as a sort of new public service in which we can escape our busy noise and stressful life's for a while.
