Situated in the busting city of Sao Paolo, Brazil, the Chimney house is a two storey 400m2 symbol of architectural harmony and volumetry, designed by MK27 architects. The residence exerts a sense of balance and symmetry and gives the visitor the illusion of a Japanese rock garden.

Slatted decking, lined concrete ceilings and patched hardwood floors expand perfectly from one wall to another, this way serving as a visual “vanishing point”, surrounded by garden patios. The box shaped ground floor is used for entertainment, relaxing and dining. Perpendicular to the living room, a TV room, service area and kitchen have been placed.

Due to the wooden patios, the separation between the two volumes is so discrete that it gives the sense of one unified atrium. On the second floor, where the bedrooms are located, the architects have blocked off the area into personal spaces so as to provide plenty of privacy, without compromising the stunning views. A series of chimneys is located on the rooftop; a trademark of Sao Paolo architecture and the key feature, around which the design of the house was based.
