Every now and then we come around a studio that doesn't take itself too seriously and that isn't afraid to add a little humour in what it does. More often then not these studios are usually located around Holland but then again that's what makes the Dutch so unique.

The Balancing Barn located in the UK designed by MVRDV seems to be more of an optical illusion than an actual building, however, make no mistake this is no photoshop trickery. Covered by reflective steel tiles that reflect in the sun to add more illusion to what is actually there, and cantilevering dramatically over the ledge, this building provides great views and emotions.

A great example of how landscape can play an integral role in architecture, instead of being viewed as an obstacle. So before sending out for a Caterpillar and a few Bulldozers next time you come around a tricky site, consider how a simple slope can be inspiring.
